“Just had a pleasant interaction with another shopper who was also pissed off that *** is continuing to falsely advertise items as “from USA or Canada” when they know damn well they’re from the USA. (I checked the box). Why can’t they order BC cherries? ELBOWS UP!”
“The regime has openly declared themselves a would-be aggressor against our country (and using tariffs merely as a tool to accomplish that). Why put money in their pocket to help them?? And turns out we're making huge impact to help Canadian businesses... which we should have done all along. For myself it has really shifted my thinking to helping my country and its businesses more than anything else.”
“I prefer buying Canadian products over others, but will accept imported goods as long as they are not US made. I also prefer patronizing Canadian owned stores and and products made by majority Canadian owned companies.”
“Canada needs to be more self-sufficient, and we should have all of our consumers be ready to buy Canada and keep the money here. Grow our economy, increase demand, raise supply, and bring in more jobs to keep the cycle going.”
“Lack of mandatory labelling makes it next to impossible to tell for certain whether products, especially private brand products are Canadian made by Canadian owned companies. I have spent hours researching ownership of manufacturers and location of their production facilities of just grocery products available in my local grocery store and have hardly scratched the surface. In some cases it has been impossible to determine where a particular product is made and by whom.”
“I get annoyed at *** as will have the Maple Leaf sticker but the product will say, made in USA. Because it is via a Canadian grocery store, does not make it Canadian!”
“I have 2 apps I use and sometimes still unsure.”
“Product labels need to clarify the degree to which something is Canadian. There are parts of the world where the labels indicate a percentage and I would like that.”
“I don't always have the time or energy to even pull out my app to check the product.”
“This is a great initiative and exactly what we need.”
“Clothing is clearly labelled where it’s made. Same should apply to food.”
“I want to know whom I am supporting when I buy "Canadian" products. Far too much of our "Canadian" consumer goods may be made in Canada, but the profits are going somewhere else, often to multinational giants controlled by US owners.”
“This is a long overdue and necessary correction to ensure our continued sovereignty as a nation and economic viability. Convenience lulled is into reliance on one particular partner. That can never happen again. We must invest in our own and build new partnerships.”
“Best of luck and congratulations with this idea and getting it going.”
